Hi! I'm Sterre, Illustrator of Wild Things.
I'm a freelance illustrator with a passion for nature and wildlife. I studied graphic design at HKU in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and have been working full time as an illustrator since 2010, starting with editorial work for magazines and nature organizations.
In 2018, I moved to a little mountain in Spain, where I live in an old farmhouse with my family. Being surrounded by nature has shaped my work, and my client base has grown internationally.
Right now, I collaborate with a wide range of clients, from book publishers and wildlife centers to zoos and musicians, united by a shared love for nature. My extensive knowledge of plants and animals helps bring my illustrations to life. Whether it’s the way a bird moves, the tiny details of a plant, or how different species interact, I make sure my work is not just beautiful but also accurate.
I find inspiration in travel and the outdoors and love exploring the mountains on horseback, taking boat trips, or wandering through wild landscapes and to bring that sense of adventure nature connection into my work. I am also a big bird nerd.
